As blaxploitation was the the '70s, perhaps Latsploitation will be to the early-twenty-first century. For just as films such as Coffy (1973), Superfly (1972), and Shaft (1971) were made with one specific, previously underappreciated audience in mind only to find universal acceptance and acclaim, Devil's Knight (2003) is much more than a mere action cheapie aimed at the Hispanic market. Gorgeous, prodigiously gifted Elizabeth Alvarez plays a hot-blooded beauty hellbent on revenge after witnessing the murder of her brother and his pal as they are building a car that ultimately proves to have more under its hood than just kick-ass horsepower. Suspense, supernatural thrills, and the always alluring Alvarez add up to make Devil's Knight one hell of a worthwhile viewing experience. Let's hope there's more where this came from.
