Biography

Harriet Walter is the niece of legendary actor Christopher Lee, which may be what inspired her to skip Hammer Horror and head straight for Shakespeare. This London-born-and-bred looker joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in productions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, All's Well That Ends Well, and Cymbeline. On screen, Harriet made her debut in the miniseries Rebecca in 1979. She followed that up with roles in the series Play for Today and the TV movies The Cherry Orchard (1981) and Amy (1984). Harriet made her film debut her nude debut by showing her skintimates in Reflections (1984). She must have reflected on this appearance and came to some unflattering conclusions, as she went back to the boob tube for skinless roles in shows like A Dorothy L. Sayers Mystery, Hard Times, Unfinished Business, The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns, Rosamunde Pilcher's Shades of Love, The Assets, Downton Abbey, and The Crown. When she does pop up on the big screen, she's in classy period pieces like Sense and Sensibility (1995), The Governess (1998), Onegin (1999), Villa des Roses (2002), Atonement (2007), The Young Victoria (2009), and A Royal Affair (2012). There are two exceptions: the 1991 miniseries The Men's Room, which contains some unspecified Harriet nudity; and the historical crime-drama The Advocate (AKA The Hour of the Pig) (1993), which shows her shapely bod covered in nothing but ancient dirt and grime. Harriet needs more filth in her filmography. Ditch the Haute couture and let us see your hot coochie.
