Winner for Best Turkish Film at the 2001 Istanbul Film Festival, Semih Kaplanoglu’s Herkes Kendi Evinde (2001), a.k.a. Away From Home, is an affecting drama about a man preparing to leave his homeland behind. Feeling unattached to Istanbul, Selim (Tolga Cevik) makes preparations to relocate to America--a move that necessitates selling his family’s precious olive grove. When an elderly uncle (Erol Keskin) objects, Selim must confront difficult questions about family, loyalty, and obligation. The old man’s arrival is somewhat of a pick-me-up, however, because he brings along foxy Olga (Anna Bielska). The hot Turk treats viewers to a priceless peek at her fleshy mounds in a particularly sumptuous scene.
