Yes, you can live on Walton mountain, leave it to be a naughty naked girl, then return to said mountain and still be welcomed with open arms. Leslie Winston proves that exact scenario—and is probably the only one who can claim it as her own. After living it up on an episode of B.J. and the Bear in 1978 (her Hollywood debut), in Centennial the same year, and in the Saturday-Night-Fever inspired Makin’ It in 1979, the lovely Leslie landed the long-running role of Cindy Brunson Walton (wife of Benjamin) on the squeaky-clean primetime series The Waltons (the one where the phrase “Good-night John Boy” came from), and held it for over 40 episodes from 1979-1981. The Austin, Texas, native and Mason City, Iowa, transplant, picked up the part again for multiple TV movies, including A Wedding on Walton’s Mountain, Mother’s Day on Walton’s Mountain (1982), and A Day for Thanks on Walton’s Mountain, all in 1982. Going for something completely different than family-friendly wholesome entertainment, she joined Mark Harmon and Kirstie Alley in Prince of Bel Air (1986), where she strolls topless down the stairs, small boobs bouncing merrily as she descends. You definitely wouldn’t see that anywhere near John Boy, and despite the delicious decadence of that daring screen scenario, the powers that be on Walton Mountain must have decided it would be too hard to kill off another character, or explain another absence, because they invited Leslie back to reprise her character of Cindy in the TV movie A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion in 1993.
