The Mistress (1999)

The concept of having a mistress (or wishing you did) is universal. Why else would there be films from around the world focusing on this subject? From the Filipino flick The Mistress (2012) to the American pic The Mistress (2022), there’s no shortage of international movies tackling this topic. In Spain, they call it La querida (1976). Since the release of that foreign film, Asia Argento played Une vieille maîtresse (2007) in the French-Italian production that translates to The Last Mistress. But not before, the US and UK incorporated Indian influences in The Mistress of Spices (2005). In 1999, the States also released The Mistress Club (1999) starring softcore sex kittens Griffin Drew, Kira Reed and Shauna O’Brien, while Hong Kong offered The Mistress. As one of the more widely celebrated pieces of ’90s Asian erotica, Crystal Kwok’s drama tells the tale of experimenting lesbians, lovers’ betrayal, and just deserts. The action kicks off when the alluring Alex (Jacqueline Peng) is enlisted by businessman Henry (Ray Lui) to teach English to his mistress Michelle (Hsiao-hsuan Chen). Initially, it seems to be a fairly normal request — until Alex continues to school Michelle on a whole lot more than just a second language. The same can be said for educating Henry on his foreign tongue! As the tantalizing tutor, Ms. Peng can be seen donning slinky skivvies. If that’s not hot enough, she flashes her rack in one scene and bares her bum in another. Suffice it to say, no subtitles are needed!
