If you came to the documentary You Don't Nomi (2019) hoping it would be about avant garde musician and performance artist Klaus Nomi, you actually want to 2004 doc The Nomi Song. You Don't Nomi is actually a doc about the fan culture surrounding Paul Verhoeven's underrated and unfairly maligned film Showgirls (1995). Reviled upon its initial release, the film has developed a cult following in the ensuing decades as people—particularly gay men and women—have seen the film for the camp classic that it was always meant to be. In addition to interviews with many of the film's stars and most ardent defenders, there's also some never before seen behind the scenes footage of leading lady Elizabeth Berkley looking absolutely gorgeous and sexy, along with a terrific topless scene from April Kidwell, who played the character Nomi in an off-Broadway musical parody of the film!
